Charter Catamarans

Wide, stable and shallow drafted, which is exactly what Bahamian water rewards.

Why Catamarans Work So Well Here

The Bahamas is shallow. Very large areas of it are shallow enough that a deep drafted monohull simply cannot go there, and the sandbars and banks that make the water look the way it does are the same features that limit where a boat can float.

A catamaran has two hulls and sits high in the water, so it draws far less. In practice that means anchoring closer in, reaching sandbars a monohull has to admire from a distance, and getting into anchorages that stay quiet because most boats cannot use them.

The second advantage is stability. Two hulls do not roll the way one does. At anchor a catamaran sits flat, which matters enormously if anyone in your group is prone to seasickness or nervous on the water. It is the first thing we suggest when a guest tells us a family member is worried about it.

The trade off is speed. Catamarans are generally slower than the motor yachts in our fleet. If your priority is reaching the middle Exumas and returning in a single day, a fast motor yacht is the better tool.

Availability and Pricing Change Constantly

Charter catamarans are privately owned and the fleet is never fixed. Vessels are sold, moved between Miami and Nassau, operate seasonally, or become unavailable for the owner's own use. A vessel shown here is not guaranteed to be available on your dates.

Rates change with season, fuel costs, demand, operating costs and market conditions. Contact us for current availability and pricing rather than relying on figures published anywhere.

The Catamarans

Catamarans Chartering From Nassau

Sailing Catamaran

56ft Lagoon Luxury Catamaran

  • Length56 ft
  • GuestsUp to 16 guests

A 2017 Lagoon 560 with the kind of flat, open deck that turns a charter day into something unhurried. Guests spread out rather than share one cockpit, and a full crew handles the sailing and the cooking so nobody aboard has to think about either. She holds an exclusive arrangement with Pig Beach on Athol Island, which puts a swim with the pigs minutes from Nassau.

Sailing Catamaran

62ft Lagoon Sailing Catamaran

  • Length62 ft
  • GuestsUp to 16 guests

The larger of our two Lagoons, a 2018 Lagoon 620 based in Nassau year round. The extra length buys separate places to sit and enough deck that sixteen guests never feel like sixteen, with a captain, mate and chef aboard. Whether she actually sails on the day depends on the wind, the weather and the captain’s judgement. When she does, she is notably quieter than any motor yacht.

Power Catamaran, Large Groups and Events

70ft Santtina Catamaran

  • Length70 ft
  • GuestsUp to 55 guests

Built for the charters that outgrow a sailing catamaran. The Santtina carries up to 55 guests, crewed by a captain, mates, servers and bartenders rather than a skeleton team, and that crew list is what separates a working event from a crowded boat. Weddings, corporate days and milestone birthdays are her regular work.

Tri Deck Power Catamaran, Events

80ft Atlantis II Large Group Yacht

  • Length80 ft
  • GuestsUp to 60 guests

A tri deck power catamaran whose beam gives her the interior and exterior space of a 120 foot yacht. She is the only vessel in the Bahamas licensed to carry more than sixty guests on day and special event charters from Nassau and Paradise Island. She can also beach herself directly onto the sand, so guests step down the ladder straight onto the beach with no tender.

Who a Catamaran Suits

Families with children

The most common reason we put a group on a catamaran. More deck space, more shade, a stable platform, and easier access to the water. Crew also find it easier to keep an eye on children than on a boat with narrow side decks.

Larger groups

Twelve people on a catamaran is comfortable in a way that twelve people on a similar length monohull is not, because the beam gives you genuinely usable deck. For events and celebrations this is usually the deciding factor.

Anyone worried about seasickness

Two hulls sit far flatter at anchor. If someone in your group is anxious about the water, tell us and we will steer you here.

Multi day charters

Cabins are typically in the hulls, which gives more separation and privacy than a monohull of similar length. Over a week that difference matters more than it does on a day out. It is also why we ask how the group divides into cabins before recommending vessels.

On Board

What Is Commonly Included

Provision varies by vessel. Chef service is generally available on the larger catamarans.

  • Private use of the catamaran for your group alone
  • Licensed captain
  • First mate and professional crew
  • Chef on board generally available on the larger catamarans
  • Freshly prepared meals where a chef is aboard
  • Premium open bar and cocktails
  • Appetizers and hors d'oeuvres
  • Snorkeling equipment
  • Water toys these vary by vessel
  • Bluetooth sound system where fitted
  • Fuel and marina logistics
  • An itinerary customised with your captain

Water toys differ from vessel to vessel and jet skis are not carried on every catamaran. Where available they may be included or offered at additional cost. Ask about a specific vessel and we will confirm what is aboard.

Common Questions

Questions About Catamaran Charters

Why catamarans suit Bahamian water, and who they work best for.

Why are catamarans so popular in the Bahamas?

Because the water is shallow. A catamaran draws far less than a monohull, so it can anchor closer in and reach sandbars and banks that deeper vessels have to admire from a distance.

Are catamarans more stable than monohulls?

Yes, noticeably. Two hulls do not roll the way one does, and at anchor a catamaran sits flat. It is the first thing we suggest when someone tells us a member of their group is worried about seasickness.

Are catamarans slower than motor yachts?

Generally yes. If your priority is reaching the middle Exumas and returning the same day, a fast motor yacht is the better choice. For a relaxed day with a large group, the speed difference rarely matters.

What is the difference between a sailing catamaran and a power catamaran?

A sailing catamaran can sail when conditions allow, which is quieter and often the more memorable experience. A power catamaran is more predictable on timing. Both offer the same deck space and stability.

Do we actually sail on a sailing catamaran?

When wind and route allow, yes. Captains will motor when the wind is wrong or the schedule is tight, and sail when it makes sense. Tell us if sailing is important to you and we will factor it into the recommendation.

How many guests suit a catamaran?

Larger groups, generally. Twelve people on a catamaran is comfortable in a way that twelve on a similar length monohull is not, because the beam gives you genuinely usable deck space.

Are catamarans good for families with young children?

They are our most common recommendation for families. More deck space, more shade, a stable platform, and easier access to the water. Crew also find it easier to keep an eye on children.

How are the cabins laid out on a catamaran?

Cabins are typically in the hulls, which gives more separation and privacy than a monohull of similar length. On a longer charter that difference matters, so tell us how the group divides before we suggest vessels.

Is there a chef on the catamarans?

A chef is generally available on the larger catamarans. As with the rest of the fleet, we confirm what applies to the specific vessel rather than promising it across the board.

Do the catamarans carry water toys?

Water toys vary by vessel and jet skis are not carried on every catamaran. Where available they may be included or offered at additional cost. Ask about a specific boat and we will confirm.

Can a catamaran reach the swimming pigs?

Yes, but given the distance it suits a multi day charter far better than a single day. Our swimming pigs page explains why.

Are the large catamarans hard to book?

They are the most requested vessels in our fleet and usually the first to be committed, particularly in high season. If a catamaran matters to you, enquire early.

Ask Which Catamarans Are Available

The large catamarans are the most requested vessels in our fleet and the first to be committed. Tell us your dates, group size and how the cabins need to work, and we will tell you what is genuinely free.

If your group is small and speed matters more than deck space, we will point you at a motor yacht instead.

Large catamarans are usually the first vessels booked in high season.
